Dante & Alfredo Guastalla, Reggiolo 1925
About the instrument:
Dante, born in 1893 and Alfredo, 1897, were pupils of Stefano Scarampella. When the two brothers worked together, as in this case, they produced their best instruments. This violin has Scarampella’s influence and the makers’ individuality.
The violin back, length 360mm, is in one piece of quarter-sawn maple with a strong curl of fine-medium width; the ribs, scroll and neck of similar wood. The front is of medium grain spruce and the varnish of an attractive golden-orange colour.
