Welcome to Tim Toft Violins
Our violin shop is situated in the delightful market town of Stone in Staffordshire. Our three-storey violin shop, which dates from 1820, offers customers fitting surroundings in which to view and try out instruments of all eras. We have an extensive range of old and modern instruments spanning the baroque, classical and modern periods – one of the largest in the UK. Customers are welcome to try out instruments on the premises in one of several special rooms designed for this purpose.
We pride ourselves on the standard of our violin repair and restoration services. We also restore and repair violas, cellos, double basses and bows. Most repairs are carried out on the premises under the auspices of our head of workshop, Jeongwoon Choi.
We are consultants for auction houses, financial institutions and insurance companies. Tim has amassed an extensive archive and reference library and has had over 40 years of attending every significant auction of instruments worldwide.
We cater for beginners and intermediate players with our ‘Debut’ instruments. These have been improved and set up by our workshop using good quality strings. You can rent these instruments from us directly for a monthly fee.
