About the violin
A Jay Haide ‘Special Model’ Balestrieri violin for sale, modelled after “Balestrieri” following closely to the dimension and shaping of the ‘f’ holes. These violins are hand-made using the finest European tonal woods from the mountains in Serbia and Montenegro. The violin has a golden ground coat with delicate flaming on the back, accentuating the complexity of the distinctive beautiful dark auburn varnish.
Professionally set up with either Evah Pirazzi or Obligato strings, a high-quality bridge and ebony fittings.
‘Special model’ violins also available in “Guadagnini”, “Guarneri”, and “Stradivari” models.
How does it sound?
A well rounded, bright sound resonating well across all strings.

“Since its introduction over fifteen years ago, the à l’ancienne violins, violas, cellos and basses have become the flagship of the Jay Haide fleet. The latest reproduction in the distinguished Jay Haide à l’ancienne series of fine violins is a copy of a fine Tommaso Balestrieri from the Ifshin Collection. In this marvelous reproduction we have endeavored to copy every feature and nuance of the original, from the characteristic f-holes to the arching, scroll and even the wear patterns of the varnish. Tommaso Balestrieri worked from about 1720 to 1772 in both Cremona and Mantua and is considered one of the finest Italian makers of the Golden Era.” – Jay Haide
