About the instrument:

The viola back, length 410mm, is in one piece of quarter-sawn maple with a strong curl of medium width; the ribs, scroll and neck of similar wood. The front is of fine grain spruce and the varnish of a red-brown colour.

Certificate from Bishop Strings, London: “I consider this to be a fine, rare and characteristic example of the makers work, currently in a very good state of preservation.”
