Luca Primon Maestro Liutaio
£95.00
John Basford and I, with the help of Isabella Streicher and Luca Sbernini, have produced a comprehensive overview of Luca Primon’s life and work, including colour photographs of 27 of his instruments.
This monograph provides an introduction to the work of the master violin maker, Luca Primon, whose instruments represent a synthesis of the Parma and the Milan Schools: Parma due to the influence of his first teacher, Renato Scrollavezza, and Milan through his admiration for the violins of Giuseppe Ornati and Ferdinando Garimberti. It also indicates something of the man, whose character came through in all aspects of his life. His influence continues to flow in those violin makers who came into contact with him, not only through their engagement with the craft to which he gave his life, but also through their approach to life itself.
