About the instrument:

The violin back, length 357mm, is in two pieces of quarter-sawn maple with a curl of fine-medium width; the ribs, scroll and neck of similar wood. The front is of medium grain spruce which broadens towards the flanks and the varnish of an orange-brown colour.

Certificate from Jean-Jacques Rampal, Paris: “…certify that the violin submitted for my examination today and bearing the Courtier label and an iron mark is an authentic Louis COURTIER instrument made in Mirecourt in the 1928 vintage.”
