French Barzoni model, 1889
About the instrument:
A French Barzoni model violin imported by Beare & Sons of London made in 1889 bearing the label Beare & Sons Barzoni Violin London 1889′. Francois Barzoni made instruments in Chateau-Thierry, France, exclusively for Beare & Sons of London between 1880-1920.
The violin back, length 361mm, is in two pieces of quarter-sawn maple with a strong curl of medium width; the ribs, scroll and neck of similar wood. The front is of fine grain spruce which broadens towards the flanks and the varnish of a red-brown colour.
Condition:
The violin is in very good condition.
How does it sound?
A bright, clear tone performing very well in the upper register.
