About the instrument:
The violin back, length 352mm, is in two pieces of quarter-sawn maple with a strong curl of medium width; the ribs, scroll and neck of similar wood. The front is of fine grain spruce which broadens slightly towards the flanks. The varnish is of a brown colour on a golden ground.
