Louis Noebe, Bad Homburg 1888
About the instrument:
An German violin made by Louis Noebe, Bad Homburg 1966 bearing the label ‘Louis Noebe Kunst-Atelier Bad Homburg L. N. No. 570 1888′ and also branded above the label ‘System Noebe. 1888’. Louis Noebe, born 1844, spent his youthful years playing the violin. He then established atelier for violin making in 1865 in Bad Homburg and was working there until 1922.
The violin back, length 363mm, is in two pieces of quarter-sawn maple with a strong curl of medium width; the ribs, scroll and neck of similar wood. The one piece front is of medium grain spruce which broadens towards the flanks and the varnish of a red-brown colour on a golden ground.
Condition:
The violin is in very good condition.
How does it sound?
Colourful, warm and does not require must work to make a great sound.
